Residents from Oxford County made their voices heard at Queens Park last week.
TORONTO - A group of people from Oxford County hosted a picnic at Queens Park to promote the high quality of environment we have in Oxford, and to say we want to keep it that way.
They wanted to raise awareness about the proposed private landfill near Beachville and to say it is not wanted in Oxford County. Local MPP Ernie Hardeman greeted the crowd who also brought a number of fibre glass cows with them. Hardeman tells Heart FM he will do everything he can to support the group in stopping the landfill from coming to Oxford.
"Obviously I'm opposed to it, there has to be better places to do that, I think if you look at all the challenges they face there, it's just the wrong place to put and I will do whatever I can to help the community in stopping the landfill."
Hardeman says by coming to Toronto the group was able to get their point made at the legislature and the topic was brought up at the end of the day.
