Construction has wrapped up on Southwood Way and shovels will hit the ground for another project on Springbank Ave North next month.
OXFORD - Oxford County is shining a light on two affordable housing projects in Woodstock.
In a recent press release, the county stated that the Woodstock Non-profit Housing Corporation project on Southwood Way has completed construction and occupancy is underway for the 52-unit apartment building. It has 37 one and two bedroom affordable units geared towards seniors and single women with and without children.
The provincial and federal governments jointly invested $1.92 million to support 19 of the affordable units.
The county also shared that construction will begin for another affordable housing project on Springbank Ave North next month. The 45-unit apartment building will have 23 affordable units, thanks to the Afro-Caribbean Business Network.
This project received joint funding of $1.11 million from the Ontario Community Housing Initiative and the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative for 11 of the affordable units.
Both projects align with the county's Housing for All - Housing and Homelessness Action Plan. The county's investment towards housing initiatives has more than doubled in recent years, from $5.7 million in 2022 to $13.0 million in 2026.
