Oxford County Council looked over the 2022 Annual Energy Report during Wednesday night's meeting.
OXFORD COUNTY - Progress on Oxford County’s renewable energy commitment was shared during the latest council meeting.
First put in place in 2014, the report tracks a number of operation-focused strategies to support the renewable energy goal and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
Warden Marcus Ryan says our report was positive, even with the growing population in the county.
“Our annual tons of carbon dioxide emitted has actually decreased slightly from 6.2 tons to 6.1.”
He adds that the county will continue to enact its Renewable Energy Action Plan in Oxford
“Oxford County has done some amazingly innovative things. We were one of the first municipalities in Canada to operate hybrid ambulances.”
The 10-year plan was first introduced in 2022 and is set to be re-evaluated in 2032.
