Tomorrow's County council meeting will see a number of speed management and road safety measures regarding County roads in Woodstock, Beachville and Hickson.
OXFORD COUNTY - A number of road safety and speed management measures will be brought to Oxford County council tomorrow.
The proposals will be regarding County roads in Woodstock, Beachville and Hickson.
Warden Larry Martin says they're looking at trying to get some consistency regarding the speed limit.
"There are some that are going along at 80km/hr down to 60km, down to 50km/hr. Then there are ones out there that go down from 80 km/hr to 50km/hr so we're just trying to get out with a standard process is what we're going with."
He adds they're also looking at how to slow the traffic down.
The proposed changes come after staff received community feedback and a further study by was done staff and an independent consultant. The proposals will be in Beachville, Hickson, Oxford Road 2 (west of Woodstock) and Oxford Road 59 (between Oxford Road 17 and Oxford Road 33).
Warden Martin says they're hopeful drivers are safer on the roads.
"All we're trying to do at this point in time is standardize our roads and get the traffic to slow down to make them safer for everybody that are using them."
Staff's report says the other proposals will include the recommendation of installation of electronic speed feedback signs.
These signs would be put on Oxford Road 59 in Beachville, implementing of a 60 km/hour school zone at the Woodstock Christian School and on Oxford Road 59 and further analyses on traffic and pedestrian in Hickson and Beachville
Among the other proposed adjustments include guideline criteria from the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) that promotes uniform traffic flow and reduce the risk of collisions.
