Oxford County council has agreed to pay almost $7,000 for on-call fees for physicians who are dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak. The physicians will treat residents and migrant farm workers and will be available if there are any outbreaks.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County has taken a tentative step into an area that is normally funded by the provincial government.
After hearing a presentation from Dr. Rachel Orchard for the Oxford Ontario Health Team, County council has agreed to pay almost $7,000 for on-call fees for physicians who are dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.
The physicians will treat residents and migrant farm workers and will be available if there are any outbreaks.
Councillor Marcus Ryan of Zorra said he would normally vote against such a motion because payments are the responsibility of the Ministry of Health, but he will support it because of current circumstances.
