Budgetary performance, asset management strategies, and the Sustainability Plan all impressed during Oxford County's credit review.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County's credit rating has been improved!
CAO Peter Crockett tells us Oxford County recently went through the annual Credit Rating Review by Standard & Poor. "This year they upgraded our credit rating from AA/Stable to AA+/Stable which is a higher level of credit rating, it's an improvement in our credit rating. It's a reflection of our financial planning, it's a reflection of our asset management strategies, and all of the work we've been doing."
Crockett says the current budgetary performance and other practises in place really impressed. "They specifically actually noted the work on the Sustainability Plan and the positive outlook of the community and the economy. It means we can borrow more money for less money."
There are high hopes that the county can maintain such a strong rating. "We continue on with what we're doing - we have a lot of really sound financial practises," says Crockett. "We have a lot of really robust business plans and budget processes. And we continue along that, and we continue along the sustainability front, and our outlook will continue to look positive."
