Oxford County's credit rating has increased from a AA Positive to a AA Stable. That's an indication the county's demonstrating fiscal responsibility. Director of Corporate Services Lynn Buchner says the only thing preventing Oxford from improving its credit rating is economic concentration. "They feel in their opinion, Standard & Poor's opinion, that we may be too heavily weighted in terms of reliance on the auto industry and their ancillary businesses. We need to look at from an economic development perspective, attracting investment that is more diversified than just the auto industry". Financial policies, long-term capital planning and budgeting process are just a few areas the county has shown favourable results.
