The Oxford County Archives, Oxford Historical Society, and Ingersoll & District Historical Society will be hosting a historical book sale at the Oxford County Administration Building tomorrow.
OXFORD - Oxford County's biggest historical book sale is almost here.
It takes place tomorrow from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Oxford County Administration Building, and Archives Technician Megan Lockhart explains why it will be the biggest one yet.
"We actually held a book sale years ago before the pandemic and it was a pretty good success, so we thought coming up to the holiday season, we'd hold another one. We are not the only ones selling books this time so the Oxford Historical Society will be selling some of their publications as well, and then the Ingersoll & District Historical Society will also have their publications for sale."
Oxford County Archives and the Oxford Historical Society have worked together outside of the book sale for years, however once the Ingersoll & District Historical Society caught wind of the event, they asked if they could take part.
The three groups are combining to provide a variety of 30-50 books, mostly on local history and genealogy.
From the Archives, some of their most recent publications include their "Family History and Memory Book" for anyone who wants to record their personal or family history, the "1852 Oxford Gazetteer" which has copies of the 1852 County Directory, and "Honouring Oxford: Memorials and Cenotaphs of the Great War" which has history on some of the local communities' memorials and cenotaphs from the first World War with biographies from the soldiers.
There are also publications listed for the Oxford Historical Society and the Ingersoll & District Historical Society.
