The Oxford EarlyOn Child and Family Centre in Woodstock will be open for business this summer.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford EarlyOn Child and Family Centre in Woodstock will be operational once again.
EarlyOn has been offering virtual services during the pandemic, however the building in Woodstock has not been used for five years.
Warden Larry Martin says EarlyOn is funded by the Ministry of Education.
"There is some work that has to be done and it is our building and it has sat empty for 5 years. The building is there, we have undertaken to promote this program throughout Oxford County."
Martin says he is happy to see the building in Woodstock being renovated, so it can be used again.
"The EarlyON program is 100 percent funded by the Province and it is designed to help keep the little ones and their parents and caregivers together, getting them working and playing together and they say that carries on into adulthood."
EarlyOn provides free programs and supports parents and caregivers to interact with their children aged 0-6 years.
Here is some of the programs they have offered during the pandemic:
- Interactive programs that foster belonging, well-being, engagement and expression, and provide connections to other families, EarlyON staff and community partners.
- Live and pre-recorded videos that support early literacy and numeracy skills.
- Links to relevant articles, resources and webinars that engage parents and caregivers as co-learners and leaders in influencing positive outcomes for children.
Plans are underway, in consultation with Southwestern Public Health, as well as local municipalities, to provide outdoor programming in the coming months.
