Buying locally grown food and products has never been easier in Oxford County
Oxford Fresh is a joint effort to promote local food and products in Oxford County.
The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture and Tourism Oxford launched their Buy Local the Oxford County Guide to Farms, Food and Local Fare on Friday. Tourism Specialist Meredith Maywood tells Heart FM why it was important for them to partner with the OFA. "Provides a stronger voice for local food and food tourism in Oxford County, it's a great partnership that's making the most of the resources and also spreading the word about everything local here that's so wonderful to enjoy."
One of the things they will start distributing next week will be maps with over 60 local producers. The maps will also take you to the different roadside stands in the County, specialty shops and vendors who promote and sell local products. Communications Administrator with the OCFA Amy Matheson says they are going to distributing some of the new maps they will be handing out all across Oxford. "The map is very comprehensive so we have categories, so cheese and dairy is a category, we have meat and fish, fruits and vegetables is one along with farm markets and retailers, so not just the community farmers markets like the Woodstock Farmers market and the downtown one we have retailers like Sundown Farms and Dickles Orchards." You will be able to get your map next Friday at the County of Oxford, Tourism Oxford, through the Oxford County Federation of Agriculture and every person and farm on the map will have copies as well.
On Friday the team unveiled the new Oxford Fresh Logo and are asking people to help them spread the word through social media #oxfordfresh.
