Oxford OPP Briefs - June 26th 2018

Oxford OPP briefs include a fail to remain collision in Norwich Township and a couple of weekend vehicle entries in Tillsonburg.

NORWICH TOWNSHIP - Oxford OPP are looking for one of the drivers involved in a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Middletown Line and New Road in Norwich Township.

They say a pickup truck was heading north on Middletown Line just before 10:30 p.m. last night, when it was hit by a southbound tractor that ran a stop sign and tried to turn at the New Road intersection.

The tractor pushed the truck off the road and into the ditch. The male driver of the truck only sustained minor injuries, and the tractor driver did not stop at the scene.

Officers believe they continued southbound on Middletown Line towards Niedert Line.

They're asking for the public's help tracking them down, adding they may or may not know they were involved in an accident. The tractor had its four ways and headlights on at the time of the incident and it's described having either discs or a manure spreader sticking out the side. Police do not know the make, model or colour.

TILLSONBURG - Oxford OPP are looking into not one, but two vehicle entries that took place in Tillsonburg over the weekend.

They say the first vehicle was entered in the Tillsonburg Hospital parking lot sometime between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Saturday. The theft is valued at $3,000; with baseball equipment, prescription medication, alcohol and ladies jewelry including a gold Bulova watch with diamonds being reported stolen. The thief also got away with $300 cash.

The second incident happened the next day in a parking lot in the area of Broadway Street and Bridge Street. A Discraft frisbee golf game with 15 to 18 discs has been reported stolen. It was in a black case with a white shoulder strap and yellow stitching at the time. The value of this theft is $300.

OPP are once again reminding vehicle owners to "lock it or lose it." You shouldn't leave valuables in the car, but if you have to make sure the vehicle is locked and the items are out of plain sight.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents should contact Oxford OPP at 1-800-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
