Oxford OPP Briefs - Thursday January 7th

Oxford OPP briefs include a scam victim, a theft in Tillsonburg and an impaired driver in East Zorra-Tavistock.

TILLSONBURG - A black 2018 Miska dump trailer and snow removal equipment has been stolen from a business in Tillsonburg.

Police say the theft happened on Spruce Street overnight Monday. Anyone with information on this theft is asked to contact Oxford OPP or Crime Stoppers.

OXFORD COUNTY - A senior from Oxford County is out $800 after falling victim to a computer scam. 

Police say the senior thought they were paying for an anti-virus program and provided the scammer with remote access to their computer. The victim paid them $800, only to be locked out of their computer.

OPP are reminding everyone to be extremely cautious if you ever get a pop-up message indicating that your computer is infected with a virus. Please do not click on any links or call the number that is provided.

EAST ZORRA-TAVISTOCK - Oxford OPP have charged a 23 year old with impaired driving after stopping a vehicle overnight Wednesday in East Zorra-Tavistock. 

The driver was also charged with possession of cocaine.

SWOX - Oxford OPP were contacted on Wednesday by an upset motorist after another driver passing them on the 401 tossed an item out of their car.

That item landed on the persons windshield, nearly causing an accident. Police are calling this a dangerous act that puts everyone jeopardy. An investigation into this crime is ongoing.
