All Oxford OPP cruisers are now equipped with the new automated licence plate recognition system and new in-car camera video recording equipment.
OXFORD COUNTY - All OPP patrol cars in Oxford County have now been upgraded to include the new automated licence plate recognition system.
The county has also introduced a new in-car camera video recording equipment, that is expected to help with the prosecution of certain offences. The ICC will also be used to highlight the professionalism OPP officers display.
The hope of the two systems is for them to work together to enhance an officer's ability to detect licence plates that are linked with criminal or traffic offences.
Oxford OPP officers have been using the new system since March 13th. They say they continue to see drivers operating vehicles that do not have valid or registered licence plates.
