Several businesses across Oxford County have signed up to host polling stations for the upcoming citizen-led voting against privatizing healthcare.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford Coalition for Social Justice has been very successful in getting volunteers for the upcoming vote against privatizing healthcare in Ontario.
Chair Bryan Smith says several people have been volunteering to help raise awareness and several businesses have signed up to host polling locations.
"Oxford County once again is proving that it is totally engaged in thinking about its current times and its future. We have had a huge response on this and we're really hoping to lead the province in terms of number and percentage of votes come May 26th and 27th."
Local residents will have lots of opportunities to be able to participate in the citizen-led vote against the Ford Government's plans to privatize healthcare.
Smith says they will have polling stations located in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, Norwich, Embro, and Salford.
"We have union locals, we have churches, we have gas stations, we have stores of various kinds, and we have garden centres all over the county. So we have a really good mix of people offering to host them and it does tell us that business people are very much on the side of public health."
The exact locations will be posted on the Oxford Coalition for Social Justice Facebook page. Smith says people will be able to vote during the host business's regular hours on May 26th and May 27th.
An advanced poll is available at Unifor Local 636 in Woodstock on Thursdays and Fridays. Smith says it's for union members, but other members of the public will also be able to vote.
