Passive House is Set to Help Residents Reduce Their Ecological Footprint

By making your home a Passive House you could reduce your energy intake by up to 95%.

HUNTINGFORD - An event is making its way to Oxford County with the primary focus being on reducing heating costs by as much as 90% while still remaining comfortable in your own home.  Passive House is the term used and on Monday Craigowan, Oxford Golf and Country Club will host a breakfast and workshop. Keynote speaker Andrew Peel of Peel Passive Housing Consulting will be present to inform the public on this cost saving endeavour, and current residents of these homes will also be on hand explain the benefits of having a Passive House .

What started and became extremely successful in Europe is crossing international waters and they can be implemented in any type of building.  Qualified buildings can remove their current heating units for what is called a low-volume heat recovery ventilation system to reduce their ecological footprint.

Passive Homes have been included in schools, businesses, and even supermarkets with a high level of success.  One of these buildings has been proven to use anywhere from 75-95% less energy in North America than new buildings today that meet the current efficiency regulation codes.  When you attend the breakfast from 8-9:30 or the full day workshop from 8-4:30 the group from Passive House will educate you on how they are raising the bar in regards to health, comfort, quality, and affordability in the construction sector.
