The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene, and their identity is not being released at this time, pending next of kin notification.
OAKLAND - A pedestrian has been killed just outside of Oakland as a result of an impaired driver.
Yesterday, around 11 p.m., Brant County emergency services responded to a report of a traffic hazard on Oakland Road near Brant Mill Road.
When officers arrived, it was discovered that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene, and their identity is not being released at this time, pending next of kin notification.
The investigation into the incident revealed that alcohol consumption was involved in the collision and that the passenger of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver is a 33-year-old Simcoe man, and he has been charged with dangerous and impaired driving causing death.
OPP continue to investigate and is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have information to assist with the investigation to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
