Members of the Perth District Health Unit are reporting less than five confirmed cases of the flu so far.
PERTH COUNTY - It's flu season in Perth County.
The Health Unit is reporting less than five lab tested cases so far, but they believe there's more out there as many people are not quite sick enough to be admitted into a hospital at this point.
In a press release Public Health Nurse Lorna Askes says the virus has been spreading throughout Ontario.
"The flu has been circulating in the province for the last few weeks so we are not surprised to see it here."
Askes recommends anyone who may not be feeling well to stay home.
"Staying home will help stop the spread of the flu to people who may be more susceptible to complications."
It's also a good idea to wash hand thoroughly, keep surfaces disinfected and to cough or sneeze into your sleeve instead of on your hand.
The flu shot is the best way to protect yourself from getting the flu and it is available through family doctors, pharmacies and by appointment at the Health Unit in Stratford.
Flu season in Canada usually runs from November to April.
