Pfizer and it's German partner BioNTech will now seek U.S. authorization to distribute their COVID-19 vaccine to the 5-11 age group following a successful Phase 2/3 clinical trial.
UNITED STATES - Pfizer says it's COVID-19 vaccine works for kids between the ages of 5 and 11.
It tested a much lower dose of the vaccine, a third of what's in the average shot now, for the elementary school-aged kids. A report in the Associated Press states the fully vaccinated kids developed coronavirus-fighting antibody levels comparable to those in teenagers and young adults.
Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech will now seek authorization for the 5 to 11 age group in the United States.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is already being distributed to anyone over the age of 12 in the United States, Canada and in other countries around the world.
