The Norwich Merchants sit in second place in the Doherty Division standings.
PJHL - It was a weekend of wins and losses for Oxford County's Junior C hockey teams.
The Woodstock Navy Vets celebrated a 6-4 victory over the Hespeler Shamrocks Friday night. The Vets scored five goals in the second period alone and Tyler Bouck made 31 saves for Woodstock.
Meanwhile, the Norwich Merchants suffered a 4-1 loss to the New Hamburg Firebirds at Nor-Del Arena Friday night, but they bounced back with a 11-2 win over the Tavistock Braves on Saturday.
The Braves also fell to the Paris Titans 3-1 on Friday.
The Firebirds are now on top of the Doherty Division standings with 54 points. They're followed by the Merchants with 52 points, the Navy Vets with 47 points, the Wellesley Applejacks with 44 points, and the Dorchester Dolphins with 32 points. The Braves and the Titans are tied for sixth place with 23 points each, and the Shamrocks sit in last place with 18 points.
Over in the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans suffered a 5-3 loss to the Mount Brydges Bulldogs on Friday.
The Trojans are in fifth place in the Yeck Division standings with 36 points. They're behind the North Middlesex Stars with 39 points, the Port Stanley Sailors with 42 points, the Bulldogs with 45 points, and the Exeter Hawks and Petrolia Flyers with 47 points each.
