The Norwich Merchants celebrated two wins over the weekend.
PJHL - It was a winning weekend for the Norwich Merchants.
They faced two of their Oxford County rivals; the Woodstock Navy Vets on Saturday and the Tavistock Braves on Sunday.
The Merchants doubled the Navy Vets 6-3 in the end. Woodstock goalie Kobe Nadalin made 28 saves on 34 shots, recording his second regulation loss of the season.
Norwich narrowly beat the Braves with final score of 4-3. It was a case of deja vu for Tavistock, which also suffered a 4-3 loss to the Wellesley Applejacks on Saturday.
The Navy Vets remain on top of the Doherty Division standings with 44 points. They're followed by the Applejacks with 40 points, the New Hamburg Firebirds with 37 points, the Braves with 36 points, and the Merchants with 35 points. The Hespeler Shamrocks top the bottom three with 26 points, followed by the Paris Titans with 21 points and the last place Dorchester Dolphins with 20 points.
Over in the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans suffered a 4-3 loss to the Aylmer Spitfires on Saturday.
The Trojans are tied with the North Middlesex Stars for fourth place in the Yeck Division standings with 33 points each. They are three points behind the third place Mount Brydges Bulldogs with 36 points, four points behind the second place Exeter Hawks with 37 points, and five points behind the first place Petrolia Flyers with 38 points.
