The Woodstock Navy Vets suffered a 5-2 loss to the New Hamburg Firebirds on Friday, but they bounced back with a 4-3 overtime win over the Tavistock Braves on Saturday.
PJHL - The Woodstock Navy Vets celebrated a win and suffered a loss over the weekend.
The Vets fell to the New Hamburg Firebirds 5-2 Friday night with Tyler Bouck finishing the night with 32 saves for Woodstock. They also beat the Tavistock Braves 4-3 in overtime on Saturday with Davin Gray, Cole Dann, Joey Zhang, and Nolan Brett scoring goals for the Vets.
Meanwhile, the Norwich Merchants doubled the Paris Mounties 8-4 at Nor-Del Arena on Friday and celebrated a 5-3 win over the Hespeler Shamrocks yesterday.
The Firebirds are currently leading the Doherty Division standings with 65 points. They're followed by the Wellesley Applejacks with 64 points, the Merchants with 57 points, the Braves with 45 points, the Navy Vets with 38 points, and the Shamrocks and Mounties tied at 14 points each.
In the Yeck Division, the Thamesford Trojans crushed the Port Stanley Sailors 7-4 on Friday and beat the Exeter Hawks 3-1 on Saturday. Thamesford is currently sitting in third place in the division standings with 55 points. The North Middlesex Stars are in second place with 57 points and the Mount Brydges Bulldogs are in first place with 58 points.
