WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police had a busy 24 hours dealing with a jewelry thief, drinking and driving and a man was arrested for trafficking bath salts.
Police were called to Light St. on Thursday morning after getting word of a break and enter to a home. Access was gained by prying open a locked patio door causing $500 in damage to the door. Once inside police say the suspects stole over $11,000 worth of jewelry and fled the scene through the same patio door.
Then on Thursday night around 8 p.m police stopped an 18 year old in the friendly city for speeding. Police say when they tried to pull over the Pontiac Grand Prix the driver did a three point turn and tried to flee. He eventually parked the car in a driveway and got out trying to get away on foot. It didn't take long for police to catch the teen and they charged him with impaired driving.
Also on Thursday night police stopped a suspicious looking man in the area of James and Clark. Police say the 54 year old man appeared to be intoxicated and was carrying a bag full of beer. He was arrested and when police searched him they claim to have found a popular street drug known as "bath salts" in his possession. As a result James Matheson was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
