Police Briefs include drugs and weapons seized in Stratford and Lock It or Lose It in Ingersoll.
STRATFORD - Stratford Police arrested three people after conducting a search warrant in the 100 block of Cawston Street.
Officers say they found drugs and weapons inside the home. They seized $600 worth of crystal meth, along with some stolen property. The weapons included knives, a steel baton and a firearm. The firearm looks exactly like an Uzi sub machine gun, however it is actually a BB gun. Officers are warning the public about carrying these replica weapons. Insp. Sam P. Theocharis says these fake guns are becoming a real problem.
"Officers are encountering more and more of these realistic replica weapons during their investigations. The drug sub culture is using these types of replicas for intimidation purposes. This of course is very concerning to the police not only locally but throughout North America."
INGERSOLL - Oxford OPP are preaching lock it or lose it after they checked 100 vehicles in Oxford.
Auxiliary members were checking the vehicles to see if people are locking their doors and keeping valuables out of sight. They were disappointed with the results.
Of the vehicles checked 4 were unlocked, 5 had windows open and 9 had valuables in plain view.
Officers left notes on the vehicles to serve as friendly reminder to owners.
The OPP encourage vehicle owners to:
Lock your doors
Never leave valuable objects or packages in full view. Put them in the trunk or take them inside.
Never leave your car keys in plain view or in an easily accessible area.
