STRATFORD - A Stratford Police officer was assaulted while trying to make an arrest on Monday morning.

Police were called to a home on Erie Street about about an 18 year old who was at the home damaging property. When the officers arrived at the scene, the 18 year old apparently lunged at one of them and pushed them against a wall.

The officers were able to gain control of the man without anyone suffering any injuries and he was transported to Stratford Police Headquarters without further incident. The 18 year old is now facing charges of Breach of Undertaking, Mischief Under $5000, Assault Police, and Resist Arrest.

STRATFORD - The Stratford Police Service is investigating a number of thefts and break and enters over the long weekend.

At least seven thefts were reported in the Maple Avenue, Whitelock Street and Wingfield Avenue areas. Three of these incidents involved thefts from vehicles, three were from a shed or a garage and in one case a garage was entered and items were taken from two vehicles inside.

The list of stolen items varies from personal electronics; jewellery; tools; and a bike. In every case, the doors were left unlocked, making the vehicles, sheds and garages easy targets for thieves.

At this time no suspect information has been obtained. Police are asking for anyone with information regarding this matter to please contact them at 519-271-4141, or to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
