Includes officer attacked by a dog, car and scooter crash on Norwich Ave and a number of vehicle break ins in the Friendly City.

WOODSTOCK - Nobody was injured after a crash between a scooter and a car in Woodstock this morning.

Police were called to Norwich Ave and Parkinson after the collision happened just after 8 a.m. The crash did cause about $1,500 in damage to both vehicles and police are still investigating.

Staying with the police an officer is recovering from dog bites after an attack just outside of Woodstock on Thursday. Reports indicate the officer Crystal Hough was attacked by a Australian Sheppard while she was following up on an investigation. The officer suffered 13 bites from the dog, who was taken into quarantine. She is expected to make a full recovery with a few scars as the dog was caught up to date on all of his shots.

Meanwhile a shed was broken into on Friday in Woodstock. Stolen was a couple of bikes and Police say the shed was locked and the thief or thieves had to use force to get inside. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says the homeowners exercised the right caution by locking the shed and the only advice she could give would be to have more lightning in the back yard to help deter thieves.

Another problem in the Friendly City lately has been vehicle entries and mischief to vehicles. Police have gotten a number of calls regarding petty theft from vehicles. Most of the time these are crimes of opportunity as thieves like to prey on unlocked vehicles.

VanLeewen tells Heart FM you should always lock your vehicle, even if your only going to be gone for a couple of minutes and never leave your valuables out in plain sight.

"I have had this argument with some people where they will say, I'm just going to leave my door unlocked because they will smash the window, what I can tell you and I have seen where perpetrators will steal and smash windows, its when you have your purse in the front seat or something major, so if you don't have any valuables hanging out in plain sight, then their is no reason why you can't lock your door."
