Police Reviewing Fire Marshall Report on Victoria St. Blast

The 2-year anniversary of the Victoria St. explosion in Woodstock is approaching later this month, and we may soon find out what investigators know about the mysterious blast. The Ontario Fire Marshall has completed its report, and has sent it to Woodstock Police for further investigation. Once police are finished, Police Chief Rod Freeman says it will be closer to being released to the public. "I don't think we're too far off that point where we can make a final and very public determination as to what the investigation resulted in. However, I don't want to put any timelines out there because I want the investigators to have the time to thoughtfully review the report." Police were adamant back in 2011 that there was no evidence of criminal activity to cause the blast. However, the Chief isn't saying what the Fire Marshall's report indicates, or if that changes those previous statements. Two people were killed in the blast that shook that quiet Sunday morning on March 27th, 2011. 73-year-old Margaret Gillett, and 79-year-old Bill Watmough were found beneath the rubble of the 3-story apartment buildings a couple of days after the explosion. It also left over 100 homeless. Many of those people and their families have been waiting patiently for the report. There's also a class-action lawsuit waiting in the wings that could be impacted by the Fire Marshall's findings.
