Pothole season is upon us and you can report any potholes you come across on the Oxford County website.
OXFORD COUNTY - As the temperatures start to fluctuate, it means more and more potholes will be popping up on Oxford County roads.
Oxford County is responsible for potholes on County roads, while the lower tiers are responsible for potholes in City, Town or Township roads. Manager of Transportation and Waste Management Services Frank Gross says you can report all potholes on the Oxford County website.
"So on a local road or a side street that would be on the responsibility of Woodstock for example if it was in Woodstock but County roads within the City of Woodstock under service agreements, so those roads are maintained on behalf of the County by City staff. If residents wanted to report a pothole and they are not sure who is responsible, they can report to Oxford to oxfordcounty.ca and we will be sure to forward that onto our City partners."
Gross says they try their best to stay on top of all potholes when they come up.
"This time of year is when we typically see more potholes so our crews are out patrolling the roads on a daily basis, it is one of their main activities this time of year. We try to stay on top of it through regular inspection of the roads and information from motorists."
All pothole reports should include the following information:
- Name of the street
- Nearest building number
- Name of the nearest cross-street
- Which lane (i.e., northbound lane, turning lane, etc.)
- Approximate size (i.e., dinner plate, man-hole)
Oxford County will have a link on the homepage to the pothole reporting page. You can report a pothole online here.
