Premier Doug Ford says he wants to see every kid back in class full time in September and daycare's running at 100 percent, however he also stated we need to be prepared for every scenario.
ONTARIO - Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he is advocating for kids to return to class in September, full time, five days a week.
Speaking in at Cambridge-based Eclipse Innovations today, the Premier was asked about why his Government hasn't released more detailed plans for kids to return to school.
"We do have a plan to open the schools, we have allowed the boards right across the Province to have their input. Let me be clear, I have talked to so many parents, school trustees and 90 percent of them, have the same idea that I do, I want the kids to be in school 5 days a week."
Ford says he wants to see kids in class full time.
"We don't need to shut the school down on a Wednesday to clean, what they should be doing is cleaning at night time and having the kids in class 5 days a week, that is what I am advocating for and I will be sitting down and talking with the Minister of Education."
Ford also said we have to be prepared for all scenarios.
"We have to plan for everything, god forbid, when flu season hits in September, October and we get hit again for the second wave, we have to be prepared for all scenarios. The worst plan is not having any plan at all, at least we have 3 scenarios, but our goal is to get every single child back in the classroom."
The Premier also stated he wants to see day cares running at 100 percent by September. He also reiterated that safety of our children will be the top priority from his Government. Ford says they will have heightened procedures and guidelines at schools and daycare's to protect the kids.
