Liberals to testify over allegations China worked to defeat Conservative candidates
The Liberal government is coming under fire over alleged Chinese interference in the last federal election.
A House of Commons committee will meet at least three more times this month and is calling up national security agencies and Liberal cabinet ministers to testify.
This started after a report in The Globe and Mail pointed out China worked in the 2021 election to defeat Conservative candidates considered unfriendly to Beijing and to help ensure a Liberal minority government.
Most of the witnesses planned to appear before the committee have already taken part in its probe of allegations of foreign interference in the 2019 election.
