The Progress Flag is now flying in Museum Square and outside the Oxford County Administration building.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Pride is celebrating the start of Pride Month a day early this year.
Nine different Progress flag raisings are taking place in Oxford County today, with one for every municipality.
The Progress flag is very similar to the Pride flag. It includes the six-stripe Pride rainbow symbol, along with sideways chevrons of light blue, pink, and white to represent trans and non-binary individuals. It also includes sideways chevrons of brown and black to represent people of colour, and a purple circle to represent the intersex community.
President Tami Murray was very impressed with the turnout for the Woodstock flag-raising in Museum Square this morning.
"Oh my goodness we have an incredible turnout! We have had so much support today and I am anticipating that we're going to have a lot more support throughout the County."
There were some protestors on site, but it was a peaceful demonstration. Murray had this to say in response.
"People have a right to disagree and we have a right to continue to advocate for our human rights."
