Ontario also confirmed several new variants of concern over the weekend.
ONTARIO - The Province of Ontario has confirmed 1,631 new cases of COVID-19 this morning, bringing the total number of cases in the Province to 309,927.
Ontario also confirmed 31 new deaths over the weekend bringing the total to 7,077. Another 994 cases have been labelled resolved, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 291,834. The Province also confirmed over a 100 new variant cases over the weekend, this means we now have a total of 879 cases of the variant that originated in the U.K, 39 of the variant traced back to South Africa and 17 that originated in Brazil.
The province completed over 38,063 tests yesterday. We currently have 626 COVID-19 patients in the hospital with 282 people in the ICU and 184 in the ICU on a ventilator. Most of the new cases today are coming from hot spot regions with 568 new cases in Toronto, 322 in Peel and 119 in York Region.
