The provincial government is investing $105 million to support non-profit tourism, culture, sports and recreation organizations.
The funds will be made available through the Community Building Fund, and will be used to help these non-profits recover from the economic devastation of the pandemic.
Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries says this is one way the province is providing support during this time of need.
"Today's investment is a critical part of our plan to support the economic and social recovery of communities across Ontario. The Community Building Fund is helping organizations whose programs and services enhance the quality of life for Ontarians and support local jobs across the province."
The funds will be administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation through two program streams.
There will be a $55 million operating funding stream to assist community non-profits with sustaining operations and creating new experiences and events, and a $50 million capital funding stream, which will go to municipalities and non-profit organizations to carry out recreation facility infrastructure repairs and local community needs.
Applications for the Community Building Fund operating stream will open on March 31st.
