The facilities in Tillsonburg and Ingersoll are among the 131 hospitals across Ontario who will receive funds for upgrades, repairs and maintenance.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Ontario government will be investing over $1 million in hospital upgrades and repairs in Oxford County.
Ontario will be investing and addressing urgent upgrades, repairs, and maintenance for 131 hospitals in the province.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman announced that Ontario will be investing $175 million in 2020 to help hospitals across the province maintain a comfortable environment for patients and staff.
"These investments will help ensure patients in Oxford and across Ontario can receive the care they need in a safe and comfortable setting. Seemingly small things like well-functioning roofs, windows or heating and air conditioning can make a world of difference to a patient's experience. The Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund will help ensure that hospitals across Ontario are able to make the needed upgrades and improvements, so patients and families have access to the reliable, quality care they expect and deserve."
Ingersoll's Alexandra Hospital will receive $261,739, and Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital will receive $1,036,066 as a result of the investment.
The Ontario government hopes this funding will help hospitals in the area get urgent upgrades and replacements on roofs, windows, heating and air conditioning systems, fire alarms and back-up generators which are all needed for Hospitals in Oxford.
Hardeman says Ontario plans to invest $27 billion over 10 years in hospital infrastructure projects. Maintaining hospital infrastructure is one of their main goals of this investment plan.
"Ontario has a plan to build a connected and sustainable public health care system centred around the needs of patients, including investing $27 billion over 10 years in hospital infrastructure projects. Maintaining hospital infrastructure is one more example of how we are working towards ensuring that Ontarians have the health care services they can depend on while building the capacity we need to end hallway health care."
