Michael Rafferty will have his appeal heard on October 24th on his conviction of first degree murder, sexual assault and kidnapping.
WOODSTOCK - The man convicted of first degree murder in the killing of Victoria Stafford is trying to appeal his case.
Several media outlets in London including AM 980 and the London Free Press are reporting that Michael Rafferty's appeal date has been set for October 24th. He was convicted in 2012 in the kidnapping, sexual assault causing bodily harm and first degree murder of 8 year old Tori Stafford. She was abducted back in 2009 in Woodstock and her body was discovered in the Mount Forest area.
Rafferty was sentenced after his partner Terri Lynne McClintic pleaded guilty to first degree murder in 2010. Rafferty's lawyer is arguing the jury relied too much on the testimony of McClintic during his trial.
