WITAAR has donated 31,500 pounds of food donations to the Salvation Army food banks in Woodstock, Ingersoll, and Tillsonburg.
WITAAR - The Realtors Care Food Drive was a huge success!
The Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg and Area Association of Realtors collected 31,500 pounds of food for the local Salvation Army food banks. When you break down the numbers, Board President Anthony Montanaro says 25,000 pounds came from Woodstock, Ingersoll donated 3,500 pounds and Tillsonburg totaled 3,000 pounds.
“The generosity from our communities is amazing and it is expected that the food raised will help keep our local food bank's shelves stocked up for many months to come. It has been 12 years since the inception of the REALTORS® Care Food Drive and it is estimated that over of 250,000 pounds of food has been collected at this event for our local food banks to date.”
Up to 140 volunteers picked up the donations in the communities of Woodstock, Tillsonburg, Ingersoll, Sweaburg, Innerkip, Embro & Beachville last Wednesday. Montanaro says they were able to cover 95 percent of the routes in all of those communities.
“The weather was rainy but held out to do the pickup. I am very proud of our members and the support they give to this amazing event, which continues to be a remarkable success every year. We want our communities to know that your local REALTORS® are not just real estate representatives, but friends and neighbours who care about the communities in which they live. I would also like to take the time to personally thank our REALTORS® Care Committee for all their hard work and dedication that they put towards creating such a successful and well-received event every year.”
Volunteers dropped off yellow door hangers in the pickup communities the week prior, and residents were able to leave their donations on their front step for pickup on Wednesday May 3rd.
