Woodstock Hydro says their customers have Elster Smart Meters which are not on the recall list
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Hydro customers don't need to be worried their smart meter will catch on fire.
54 hundred meters are being recalled by the Electrical Safety Authority due to a fire hazard.
Manager of Operation at Woodstock Hydro Jay Heaman says the recalled meters are not used by the utility. "Woodstock Hydro uses a manufacturer called Elster exclusively so there are no Sensus meters in the City of Woodstock."
"If they have any concerns about their meter for whatever reason, if they see there is issue with the quality of power coming in, make sure you call us but don't worry about it."
Most of the meters are in the Sarnia area, with others in the Waterloo, Kitchener, Windsor, Sudbury, Brant County, Cobourg, Fort Erie, Norfolk, Oakville and Algoma areas.
