The facility's lights will be switched to LEDs, which will offer a better playing experience on the field. They're slated to have the renovations start by mid May of next year.
TILLSONBURG - The Annandale Baseball Diamonds are set to get new LED lights next year.
Director of Recreation, Culture & Parks Rick Cox says it'll be renovated next year due to the cost being too high.
"When we put the project out for tender, the results came back significantly higher than the amount of money we had in the 2019 capital budget."
The facility's lights are very old and in need of replacement, which need to be changed for a better playing field.
Cox says the estimated cost was a considerable change from the budget.
"The unofficial results we got back range from just under $270,000 to $400,000 so we had a large range next to our 2019 budget which was $150,000."
He says the timing to start the project is difficult because of the wet spring ground. However, he says they are hoping to start the renovations next year.
"We would issue it so that we would have the work done by mid May next year. So we need to be really careful with our timing on that work so we don't do any damage to that area with the heavy equipment."
