The $4,000 raised from this year's Rotary Roses campaign will go to Operation Sharing and Domestic Abuse Services Oxford.
WOODSTOCK - It was a very successful Rotary Roses campaign for the Rotary Club of Woodstock.
President Graham Hart says the club sold 300 dozen roses this year, raising $4,000 for Operation Sharing and Domestic Abuse Services Oxford.
“The Rotary Club of Woodstock is committed to assisting our excellent community partners. Both DASO and Operation Sharing provide much needed help to the most vulnerable members of our community who are in immediate and urgent need of shelter and safety. Our Club is very thankful to all those generous people who purchased roses to help support this important fundraising initiative.”
DASO Executive Director Diane Harris says the money they receive will help local families in need.
“I would like to again extend our sincere gratitude for this donation! The proceeds received today will go directly into our Family Support Program, which is not fully funded by our government funders. We will be helping families through summer activities here at the shelter and in the community. Living in a shelter is not an ideal situation for children, but we want to make their stay here a memorable one with fun and safe activities."
Shawn Shapton, the Executive Director of Operation Sharing, says they have big plans for the funding they receive as well.
“Operation Sharing is thankful to be selected as a recipient of the Rotary Roses fundraiser. The funds will be directed to our new day space, Operation Hope where we provide wrap-around support to the homeless community and individuals living precariously.”
The roses were sold for $35 per dozen. The bouquets were delivered to local businesses on Friday June 3rd and to residents on Saturday June 4th.
