The event helps families in need of financial support after a cancer diagnosis.
TILLSONBURG - Tillsonburg Running with the Bulls is back for another year.
It will be taking place on the Trans Canada Trail on Saturday July 18th this year. All of the proceeds will go to the Kindred Foundation's ULink Patient and Family Fund, to help families in need of financial support after a cancer diagnosis.
Everyone will gather at the Clark Street entrance to the trail, right by Future Transfer. Participants can pick up their race kit starting at 6:30 a.m., before the 5K kicks off at 8:00 a.m. and the 10K begins at 8:30 a.m..
Organizer Tamara Bull says the 5K and the 10K attract a lot of serious runners.
"It's chip timed, sanctioned and insured by Ontario Athletics. It's the only run in all of Oxford County that incorporates all three of those elements, which is usually the big draw for a runner."
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three runners of each race and prizes will also be on hand for the top three finishers for each age category by gender. Thompson Goosens is also sponsoring a Matadors Pick this year, so those who don't finish in the top three also have a chance to win a prize.
A 1K Kiddie Trott will takeover the trail at 9:30 a.m.. That race is also chip timed and each child will receive a swag bag complete with a medal and a race bib.
Everything should wrap up with the Memorial Walk at 11:00 a.m.. It's free to participate, and Bull says you can expect to see lots of flags.
"You can have either a yellow flag in honor of or a white flag in memory of. The Tillsonburg Station Arts Centre sponsors the Kids Zone where people can go and decorate their flag and personalize it. You can either carry it with you during that walk, or we line the trail with it during that walk."
