WOODSTOCK - The Salvation Army in Woodstock will launch their 2020 Kettle campaign this Friday.
Community Ministries Coordinator Noel Sterne says they're excited to launch the Kettle campaign this weekend.
"We were given the approval from our head office to go ahead with the campaign, provided the community partners and places were willing to have us and the community and businesses in Woodstock have been especially supportive. We will have some modifications based on the COVID-19 situation but we are going to be at all of the same locations this year, in fact, I'm happy to announce a new location at the local Canadian Tire."
The kettles will be present during the weekends in November and they will be out Monday-Saturday as we get closer to Christmas. Sterne says the money from the Kettle campaign keeps them going all year round.
"The Christmas Kettle campaign is the Salvation Army's primary fundraiser for the year, so when you put a toonie, a $5 dollar bill, a $10 dollar bill into the kettle, you are not just helping us with our Christmas assistance campaign, you are helping us have the food bank and our emergency assistance, it's how we keep the lights on, how we keep the doors open all year round."
Sterne says more and more people are relying on services from the Salvation Army this year because of the pandemic and any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
