Cobi and Steve Sauder received the 2023 Oxford Stewardship Award during yesterday's County Council meeting.
OXFORD COUNTY - The 2023 Oxford Stewardship Award has been handed out.
At the latest County Council meeting yesterday, Warden, Marcus Ryan presented Cobi and Steve Sauder with the award.
They received the award for their efforts in land improvement and sustainability, which includes a long list of stewardship projects at their 100-acre farm in Zorra Township.
Most recently, they established a wooded area with tree diversity, buffered a wetland, and planted windbreaks. Also, the Sauders have planted roughly 6,500 trees since purchasing their property nearly 30 years ago.
Cobi and Steve got a $500 gift card to purchase artwork made by the local Oxford County artist of their choice, along with their names on the recognition wall at the Oxford County Administration Building.
The program is funded by Oxford County and administered by the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority and the Grand River Conservation Authority.
