The Oxford County Cheese Trail is being relaunched with new locations and even more fun stops.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford County Cheese Trail is being re-launched.
Tourism Specialist with Oxford County, Meredith Maywood, says this a great time for both people who have never experienced the trail, and newcomers. "It's a culinary trail, so it is a list of curated stops that people can go and visit. We have four cheese makers involved where you can go and you can taste, and in several instances tour these facilities. It will include restaurants that are featuring these cheeses on their menus, to our heritage sites that are telling our cheese and dairy heritage."
Maywood says the trail offers lots of family friendly fun. "We've revamped the cheese trail with more cheese and new experiences for people to check out throughout the county. There are a variety of locations so everything from a cotjia caramel latte to a Oaxaca cheese, which is a stretched mozzarella, it's just a variety of the new products."
Maywood is excited to see how this year's event will take off. "There are actually over 70 cheese and dairy products made in Oxford County, we've added over 20 new stops. People are interested in the product - whenever we go out to an event people are always picking up information about the cheese trail. What we have here is an unique offering telling the local cheese and dairy story."
There are even free events along the trail including the cheese themed playground in Ingersoll. And visitors are encouraged to snap a selfie and share their pictures with #TryTheTrail
