Someone has been calling Woodstock residents pretending to be a city employee saying they need to inspect your water heater for hydro-related purposes.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is warning the public about a scam making the rounds.
It has received multiple reports from people who have received calls from someone pretending to be a city employee saying they need to inspect their water heater for hydro-related purposes.
The city has no connection to this individual, so you should hang up if you get a call like this and file a report with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
You should also call Woodstock Police at 519-537-2323 if you provided personal information or lost money related to this scam.
We've been notified that residents are getting calls from people claiming to be the City saying they need to come and check residents' water heaters related to hydro use.
