The Woodstock Police Service says a hold and secure is different from a school lockdown, and you should know the difference.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service would like everyone to know the difference between a school lockdown and a hold and secure.
A lockdown is when there is an emergency situation inside or very close to the school. All of the inner doors are locked, all of the lights are turned off, and all of the windows are covered to shelter students, staff, and visitors.
A hold and secure is when there's a situation going on outside the school, somewhere in the same neighbourhood. It's a precautionary measure, where the outer doors are locked and everything continues business as usual inside.
A hold and secure was issued for St. Michael's Catholic School on January 30th due to an investigation in the Seneca Place area. No further details were released.
