Woodstock Police have released a number of winter driving tips to get us through the next couple of months.
WOODSTOCK - Environment Canada is calling for the possibility of up to 20 centimetres of snow on the ground by Wednesday.
With this in mind the Woodstock Police have released some winter driver safety tips. They recommend you do the following:
1. Make sure your vehicle has weather appropriate tires on.
2. Pack an emergency preparedness kit! Keep things like a blanket, extra set of clothing, first aid kit, flashlight and other emergency supplies in your trunk.
3. Top up your windshield washer fluid and keep gas in the tank.
4. Brush and scrape off all the snow and ice from the vehicle – including the roof, all windows, and lights on the vehicle.
5. Turn your vehicle’s lights on for visibility and so others can see you in the snow, rain, fog, etc.
6. Never leave your keys in your vehicle unattended while your vehicle is warming up in the morning – morning warm up is a prime time for vehicle thefts from driveways.
7. See snow, go slow! Leave early and slow down on the roads when they are wet or covered in ice, snow or slush.
