35 tattoo artists tattooed a semi colon and/or the b-love sign for 1145 people in Ingersoll in order to raise money for local mental health initiatives.
INGERSOLL - Over a thousand people got inked in order to support a great cause at the Ingersoll Memorial Centre.
Thirty-five tattoo artists from all over
A remarkable $53,000 was raised this year. This is the second year of the A Pause for Love semi-colon tattoo fundraiser and it was started by Ingersoll's Ned Burwell.
Burwell was just hoping to top last years mark and is absolutely blown away by the support from the community this year. About 1,700 semi colon tattoos and B-Love designs were done on Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm.
The semi colon is symbol of mental health awareness because a semicolon represents a sentence the author could've ended, but chose not to.
All of the money raised on Sunday will go towards the Ingersoll Fusion Youth Centre, the Oxford-Elgin Child and Youth Centre, the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Talbot Teen Centre.
Burwell stated on his Facebook page that he is blown away by the support from the community.
"Today my heart is exploding with gratitude and humility for what my community gave yesterday at our semi colon, b-love fundraiser. We set out to make and impact and raise money for the vital services we have in place. I can safely say we accomplished what we set out to do!"
