It's Big Brothers Big Sisters Month and about 130 kids are currently waiting for matches within Oxford County.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's September, so that means it is Big Brothers Big Sisters Month.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County uses this month as an opportunity to spread the word and hopefully get volunteer mentors to help their cause.
Executive Director Kristen Ralph says a lot of people aren't aware of the other programs they have beyond their traditional one-on-one mentoring. For example, there are Big Couples and Big Families, where couples or families can volunteer together to mentor a youngster, as well as the PRISM program to support 2SLGBTQ+ youth in Oxford County.
She says about 130 kids are waiting for matches in Oxford.
"We would like to get to the day that we have volunteers waiting to get matched with kids."
If you want to get involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, they also offer "BIGS 101" where adults can get information about the cause ahead of time to learn if Big Brothers Big Sisters is right for them. More information can be found here.
