United Way Oxford will host it's next Community United Conversation on Tuesday and this time it's going to shine a light on human trafficking.
OXFORD COUNTY - It's a chance to learn more about human trafficking and some of the local resources we have here in Oxford County.
United Way Oxford will be hosting it's next Community United Conversation on Tuesday September 28th over Zoom. Executive Director Kelly Gilson says they're going to welcome a special guest speaker.
"Her name is Kelly Tallon Franklin from Courage for Freedom. They're a leading organization to educate, train and certify frontline workers and community service workers on strategies and prevention tactics to serve those who are vulnerable to human trafficking."
Gilson says the virtual conversation will shine a light on human trafficking from a local standpoint as well.
"We're going to be joined by local folks - someone from DASO who is a sexual assault councillor, a constable from the Oxford OPP and an inspector from the Woodstock Police - to put local context to this topic."
There's also going to be a Q&A session afterwards so the viewers at home will be able to ask any questions they may have using online chatbox feature.
Everything will begin at 7:00 p.m. and you have to send an e-mail to amanda@unitedwayoxford.ca to register in advance. It's free to participate and the video will be uploaded to the United Way Oxford website afterwards.
