TILLSONBURG - The Special Investigations Unit has been notified after a man was injured while in Oxford OPP custody in Tillsonburg.
Officers were called out to the intersection of Broadway Street and Lisgar Ave at around 3am on Saturday, after a van struck a hydro pole. They arrested a 24 year old man at the scene and transported him to their detachment where a parallel criminal investigation is ongoing.
The SIU has invoked their mandate; something they do whenever there is a circumstance involving police and civilians that has resulted in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
