The SIU has found no reasonable grounds to charge the WPS in relation to an arrest on January 25th of this year.
WOODSTOCK - The Special Investigations Unit will not be laying charges in relation to a crash involving a Woodstock Police cruiser.
It happened on January 25th of this year. The WPS responded to a report of a reckless driver in the west end of the city and discovered that the driver had struck multiple vehicles and structures on the roadway. That same vehicle also struck a police cruiser while trying to get away.
A 31-year-old man was forcibly removed from the drivers seat and he was diagnosed with a fractured spine in hospital.
After investigating the matter, the SIU determined that there's no reasonable grounds to charge the police officers involved in his arrest.
The Special Investigations Unit is called in whenever there is an incident with police that results in death, serious injury, sexual assault, and/or discharge of a firearm.
